A light hearted account of a walk along the Robert Louis Stevenson Trail in southern France, following in the footsteps of the author of Treasure Island and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. When Stevenson set off in the late1870's to walk from Le Monastier to St Jean it was to collect material that formed the basis of his early book 'Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes'. The route of Stevensons' meandering travels is now an established long distance trail. This is an account of my meandering thoughts as I followed in the footsteps of Stevenson and his donkey.

This book was probably interesting if I'd taken more time to continue with it. But the wording was often too flowery, too Olde-worlde for my reading taste. It just wasn't for me. I gave up after half-a-dozen or so chapters. However, I do appreciate that I'm not a classy reader (more commercial); I'm sure there are many others who would love this author's style of writing.Product details

Funny!
A witty, light hearted walking travel memoir that follows the same path Robert Louis Stevenson took with a donkey through southern France in the late 1800s. I personally like these kinds of books. The author describes what he sees, how he is feeling, what he likes and doesn't like, etc. A rather brave adventure for a man who doesn't speak any French!! Lots of humor in this book and some good pictures too.
